Welcome, welcome to Caraval―Stephanie Garber’s sweeping tale of two sisters who escape their ruthless father when they enter the dangerous intrigue of a legendary game.
Scarlett has never left the tiny island where she and her beloved sister, Tella, live with their powerful, and cruel, father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval, the far-away, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show, are over.
But this year, Scarlett’s long-dreamt of invitation finally arrives. With the help of a mysterious sailor, Tella whisks Scarlett away to the show. Only, as soon as they arrive, Tella is kidnapped by Caraval’s mastermind organizer, Legend. It turns out that this season’s Caraval revolves around Tella, and whoever finds her first is the winner.
Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. But she nevertheless becomes enmeshed in a game of love, heartbreak, and magic with the other players in the game. And whether Caraval is real or not, she must find Tella before the five nights of the game are over, a dangerous domino effect of consequences is set off, and her sister disappears forever.
Can anyone honestly believe we’re actually down to the last day of the year? Because I can’t. I mean, 2016 has honestly given quite a few punches here and there, but I can’t blatantly say that it was horrible. I’ve achieved quite a few of my resolutions, met lots of wonderful people, worked with a few publishers, read some amazing and life-changing books… I think it’s unfair to say that I didn’t enjoy 2016.
I can’t believe it’s that part of the month again where I get to share with everyone ALL THE BOOKS I got for the month! This December, I’d like to say that I went all out (?!?) basically because it’s Christmas, and I’m still lingering on the fact that I turned 21 last November. It’s a good mix of both New Adult and Young Adult books, so I’m more than excited to finally see the following titles on my shelves.
Moving to a space station at the edge of the galaxy was always going to be the death of Hanna’s social life. Nobody said it might actually get her killed.
The sci-fi saga that began with the breakout bestseller Illuminaecontinues on board the Jump Station Heimdall, where two new characters will confront the next wave of the BeiTech assault.
Hanna is the station captain’s pampered daughter; Nik the reluctant member of a notorious crime family. But while the pair are struggling with the realities of life aboard the galaxy’s most boring space station, little do they know that Kady Grant and the Hypatia are headed right toward Heimdall, carrying news of the Kerenza invasion.
When an elite BeiTech strike team invades the station, Hanna and Nik are thrown together to defend their home. But alien predators are picking off the station residents one by one, and a malfunction in the station’s wormhole means the space-time continuum might be ripped in two before dinner. Soon Hanna and Nik aren’t just fighting for their own survival; the fate of everyone on the Hypatia—and possibly the known universe—is in their hands.
But relax. They’ve totally got this. They hope.
Once again told through a compelling dossier of emails, IMs, classified files, transcripts, and schematics, Gemina raises the stakes of the Illuminae Files, hurling readers into an enthralling new story that will leave them breathless.
Okay, so it’s no secret that ever since I got fully adjusted with work, that I’ve been quite inactive on here. Only being able to post fully drafted and scheduled posts, I’m really quite limited. With Sundays being the only free day I get to brainstorm and word vomit, I can’t help but neglect and leave Book Freak Revelations hanging every now and then. It’s with a prideful heart, though, that today, I get to finally share with everyone ALL THE BOOKS I got during the months of October and November! It’s been months since I last posted a haul post, so I might as well post one now, right?
